Brief:

 

Create an experimental musical ‘score’ through typographic notation for Philip Glass’ opera Einstein on the Beach for the ISTD Competition.

Solution:

 

Sparked by the stage layout of the performance and the linear inspirations from a beach-scape the music score represents the opera Einstein on the Beach. The rotated square represents the flow in Glass’ opera with it’s unique style of no breaks. The colour palette I have chosen is inspired by space and astronomy- the focus of Einstein’s work.
